Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Empower students as a dedicated professional, supporting individuals with visual impairments in a vibrant educational environment near York, PA. As a contract educator, your expertise and compassion will help learners excel academically and gain critical life skills for success both inside and outside the classroom.
Desired Skills & Experience:
Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) Proven experience working with students who are blind or have low vision Thorough knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies Ability to design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with educational teams, families, and support staff Commitment to creating inclusive learning experiences Flexibility and resourcefulness in adapting to diverse student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and ongoing support to students with visual impairments across grades and settings Assess student abilities and progress, recommending and adapting instructional materials as necessary Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to ensure accommodations are in place Educate staff and peers on visual impairment awareness and strategies for student inclusion Monitor and document student outcomes, adjusting teaching methods to optimize success Lead or participate in IEP meetings, offering insight and advocacy for optimal student support This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, fostering academic achievement and self-confidence for students with visual impairments.
