Job Description
Introduction The Department of Corrections is focused on public safety through the custody and supervision of those in our care. Corrections employees have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of others through careers in a variety of fields. The Division of Adult Institutions is currently recruiting to fill a Teacher - Adult Basic Education (ABE) and Special Education (SPED) position. This position will be located at Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution in Plymouth, WI. Position Summary This position develops and implements a program of professional educational services in Special Education for students with one or more disabilities as specified by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instructions (DPI) that meet their assessed individual academic needs. Responsibilities include management of evaluations (initial and three-year), coordinating diagnostic testing, development of the students' Individual Education Program (IEPs), progress monitoring, assessment of evidence-based practices and materials, maintenance of confidential records, and transition planning. Salary Information Starting salary for this position is between $27.00 and $35.06 per hour, plus excellent benefits. Candidates may receive supplemental pay, up to $2.97/hr., for additional credits relevant to the position that are over & above the credits needed for certification. Pay upon appointment will be in accordance with language in the Compensation Plan, Statutes, and Administrative Code. This position is in pay schedule/range 13-04. A twelve-month probationary period is required.
