Job Description

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. This contract position allows for flexibility, offering part-time or full-time hours (24-40 hours per week) based on your availability and preferences. Begin making a difference immediately and continue through the end of the school year.
Key Qualifications:
Active credential as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or eligibility for California certification Strong understanding of instructional techniques and adaptive technology for students with visual impairments Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities Prior school-based experience is highly valued
Role Responsibilities:
Work with students who are visually impaired across various grade levels, providing direct instruction and support Develop and adapt lesson plans to suit individual student needs, ensuring accessibility and inclusion Advocate for student accommodations and support within the classroom setting Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff to promote student success Assess student progress and maintain thorough documentation Provide guidance and training for staff and families in the use of specialized materials and technology Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal setting and progress monitoring Complete required documentation in a timely manner While the district prefers onsite presence, there is flexibility for one remote work-from-home day per week if necessary This is a rewarding opportunity for passionate educators committed to making education accessible for all.
