Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Embrace a rewarding opportunity supporting students with visual impairments in an engaging K-12 environment. This contract role runs from early August through mid-May, with full-time hours (35 per week) and flexibility for those interested in part-time schedules. Enjoy the variety of an itinerant TVI role, traveling between schools assigned to limit commute times, all within a welcoming, collaborative district near Signal Mountain, Tennessee. Serve a diverse caseload—spanning elementary, middle, and high school—and make a difference for students learning in general education as well as specialized settings. You'll work hands-on with Braille instruction, adapt materials, and support access to curriculum using assistive technology. Familiarity with the Federal Quota program for accessible instructional materials is a plus, and strong experience facilitating IEP meetings using TN Pulse will set you up for success.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid DOE teaching certification Minimum of 5 years' experience as a TVI, with at least 5 years in a virtual/remote capacity for virtual consideration Skilled in teaching and adapting materials for the visually impaired, especially proficiency with Braille and assistive technology Knowledge of current best practices and legal standards in special education Adept with Chromebooks and accessible technology Ability to travel efficiently across assigned schools Completion of required fingerprinting before the start date
