Job Description

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in an onsite, full-time contract role for the upcoming academic year. This position offers a meaningful way to utilize your skills, helping children and young adults reach their full potential in an educational setting. The role spans from early August through late May, with the possibility of pre- or post-planning days to ensure a smooth transition into and out of the school year.
Desired Qualifications:
Active Georgia Educator Certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired is required Direct experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in school settings Comfortable handling daily service logs and clear documentation of student interactions Willingness to discuss strengths, preferred age groups, and experience during the interview to guide caseload placement Committed to onsite engagement (remote/virtual instruction will not be considered)
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and small group instruction for students with visual impairments, adapting materials and teaching strategies as needed Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special educators, and other support professionals Conduct and document daily service logs and progress notes to ensure compliance and effective communication Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development and review of educational plans Engage in ongoing professional learning and district initiatives related to visual impairment You will have the flexibility to discuss age group preference and placement based on your unique experience and expertise—making a real difference in students' academic journeys. The interview process is estimated to begin in June or early July as the district finalizes budgeting.
