Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Embark on a rewarding assignment as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive school environment near Woonsocket, RI. This contract position offers the opportunity to work full-time (37.5 hours per week) in self-contained classrooms dedicated to providing meaningful learning experiences for students with autism. With multiple openings available, you'll join a collaborative setting alongside 3-6 paraprofessionals, working closely with a small group of no more than 10 students per classroom.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification required Experience or strong interest in working with students on the autism spectrum Understanding of IEP development and implementation Ability to lead and coordinate with paraprofessionals in the classroom Effective communication and organization skills Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and adapt individualized lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of students with autism Manage a self-contained classroom environment, ensuring structure and consistency Collaborate with paraprofessionals to implement intervention strategies and support student goals Maintain and monitor student progress, documenting observations and outcomes Engage with families and support staff to promote positive educational experiences Uphold established protocols to ensure student safety and well-being This position is ideal for educators passionate about making a difference through specialized instruction, teamwork, and a nurturing approach.
