Job Description

Harrisburg Global Academy, a K-8 public charter school Position Summary The STEM Electives Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering engaging, hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) instruction for students in grades K-8. Through project-based learning, engineering design challenges, LEGO®/Robotics , coding, and Project Lead The Way (PLTW) curriculum, the teacher will inspire creativity, innovation, problem-solving, and critical thinking while helping students develop skills necessary for success in a rapidly changing world. The STEM Electives Teacher will create a dynamic learning environment where students collaborate, design, build, test, and refine solutions to authentic problems while fostering curiosity and a love of learning. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan and deliver standards-aligned STEM elective courses for students in grades K-8. Implement engaging, hands-on lessons utilizing engineering design processes, inquiry-based learning, and project-based learning. Teach and facilitate LEGO® Education and Robotics activities that develop engineering, coding, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Implement and manage Project Lead The Way (PLTW) modules and curriculum as assigned. Introduce students to coding, robotics, engineering, technology applications, and design thinking concepts. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with disabilities, gifted learners, and multilingual learners. Foster creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking through STEM challenges and innovation projects. Student Engagement and Learning Environment Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and highly engaging classroom environment. Promote student curiosity, perseverance, and growth mindset through hands-on exploration and experimentation. Manage STEM materials, technology devices, robotics equipment, and makerspace resources effectively. Encourage teamwork, collaboration, and respectful participation during projects and competitions. Assessment and Data Use Assess student learning through performance tasks, projects, presentations, and demonstrations. Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to students and families. Use assessment data to refine instruction and support student growth. Collaboration and School Involvement Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate STEM concepts across content areas. Support school-wide STEM initiatives, showcases, competitions, and family engagement events. Participate in professional learning communities, staff meetings, and school professional development activities. Assist in coordinating STEM clubs, robotics teams, coding clubs, or enrichment opportunities as assigned. QualificationsRequired Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Valid state teaching certification or eligibility for certification. Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students. Strong classroom management and student engagement skills. Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into instruction. Preferred Experience teaching STEM, science, engineering, technology, robotics, coding, or related subjects. Experience implementing Project Lead The Way (PLTW) curriculum. Experience with LEGO® Education, LEGO® Robotics, VEX Robotics, or similar robotics platforms . Knowledge of coding platforms such as Scratch, Code.org, Python, or similar programs. Experience with project-based learning and makerspace environments.
Pay:
$52,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
