Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful role shaping the lives of students in an alternative education environment. As a Special Education Teacher for an Emotional Disabilities (ED) classroom, you will work full-time in a structured and supportive setting focused on meeting the needs of students with significant behavioral and emotional challenges. This opportunity allows you to make a genuine impact as you guide students toward positive academic and personal outcomes for the 2026-2027 school year. What you'll bring: Valid South Carolina certification in Special Education or eligibility to obtain it Prior experience in ED, behavioral, or alternative education settings is strongly preferred Exceptional skills in classroom management and crisis intervention Ability to implement individualized behavior intervention and de-escalation strategies A calm, consistent, and compassionate approach when supporting students in high-need situations What you'll do: Deliver specialized instruction tailored to each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals Build a safe, therapeutic, and engaging classroom environment with clear structure and routines Develop and implement behavior intervention plans that promote positive student outcomes Foster social-emotional learning and skill building through supportive and consistent teaching methods Collaborate closely with behavioral support staff, school administrators, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure student needs are fully met Maintain organized records, progress monitoring, and active participation in IEP meetings and student planning Take advantage of the chance to truly make a difference in students' educational journeys by providing them with the skills and support necessary for growth.
