Job Description
Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference by supporting elementary students as a Self-Contained Special Education Teacher for grades K-3. In this contract role, you'll provide tailored instruction in a nurturing environment designed to help every child reach their full potential. Your expertise will be instrumental in fostering academic, social, and emotional growth among students with diverse needs.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
South Carolina Multi-Categorical Special Education certification (required) Experience teaching or supporting elementary-age students, particularly in self-contained classrooms Deep understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and differentiated instruction Strong collaboration skills for partnering with general education teachers, therapists, and families Excellent organization, patience, and adaptabilityResponsibilities:
Deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned instruction to students in K-3 self-contained special education settings Develop and implement individualized education plans in compliance with state and federal regulations Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, materials, and accommodations to support diverse learning needs Monitor student progress, adjusting instructional approaches as necessary Foster a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere, promoting student independence and confidence Work closely with support staff, therapists, and administrators to holistically address students' needs Maintain accurate records, reports, and timely communication with familiesBenefits and Perks:
