JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE:
Self-Contained McCarthy Teszler Special Education Teacher
FLSA:
Exempt
GENERAL SUMMARY
As a McCarthy Satellite Special Education Teacher, you will play a key role in helping students with unique learning needs grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Your classroom will be a place of encouragement, support, and individualized instruction designed to help every student succeed.
REPORTS TO
Building level principal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops engaging lesson plans tailored to students' abilities, needs, and interests. Utilizes a variety of instructional methods and materials to support student learning. Creates a safe and structured classroom environment where students thrive. Regularly assesses student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Collaborates with other educators, specialists, and support staff to create effective learning strategies. Communicates with parents and guardians to keep them informed of student progress. Supervises and guides instructional aides and volunteers. Maintains accurate student records and comply with district, state, and federal requirements. Support and uphold school policies, fostering a positive and inclusive environment. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay up to date on best practices. Performs other related duties as required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Education and experience as required by state certification authorities. SC Certification as Special Education Multicategorical (21)
Knowledge:
Knowledge of the policies, procedures and activities of the school district which pertain to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position. Knowledge in the methods for developing lesson plans and materials, and classroom activities which stimulate learning. Knowledge of Special Services records, forms and reports which must be prepared and maintained. Knowledge of Special Services materials and information which must be prepared for classroom instructional activities. Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training.
Skills/Effort:
Ability to provide instruction to students through explanation, demonstration and/or supervised practice. Ability to supervise students and maintain order in various classroom and instructional activities and situations. Ability to identify student adjustment and/or academic problems, provide counseling and/or recommend appropriate remedial action to parents. Ability to communicate effectively with students and their parents, district staff, and all other groups involved in the activities of the job.
Working Conditions:
Conducts duties in a classroom environment with no significant exposure to environmental conditions. Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention and working with students. Physical demands are restricted to classroom work requiring lifting/moving of items up to 25 pounds. Occasional local travel is required; no overnight travel is required. Job requires the operation of standard office equipment.
SALARY:
District's Teacher Salary Schedule (190-day contract)
