Exempt General Definition of Work The Master Teacher is an expert educator who plays a pivotal role in shaping instructional practices and supporting the professional development of teachers within the school or district. The Master Teacher models exemplary teaching techniques, coaches and mentors' other teachers, and leads initiatives to improve instructional quality and student outcomes. Master Teachers direct instruction to an assigned group of students or a school-based program for at least 90 minutes daily. For the remaining portion of the day, they provide teachers coaching and professional development support. Instructional Leadership:
Demonstrate best practices in instruction by teaching lessons that reflect high standards of pedagogy, engagement, and student-centered learning. Use data-driven instruction to continuously assess and respond to the diverse needs of students. Integrate innovative teaching methods, including the use of technology, to enhance learning experiences. Work with school leadership and PLCs to develop and implement curriculum enhancements, instructional strategies, and interventions that improve student learning outcomes. Analyze student performance data to identify areas for instructional improvement and share findings with colleagues to inform teaching practices. Lead professional development sessions to introduce and model new teaching strategies, tools, and technologies. Provide coaching to teachers based on need to support their growth and development in the classroom. Collaborate with teachers to help them set professional goals and create individualized plans for improvement. Facilitate peer collaboration by leading or participating in professional learning communities (PLCs). Work with other instructional leaders to identify the professional learning needs of teachers and plan relevant, impactful development opportunities. Analyze student work and assessment data to adjust instruction and ensure students are meeting learning objectives. Work closely with principals and school leaders to align teaching practices with school-wide goals and instructional initiatives. Participate in school leadership teams to contribute expertise in instructional leadership and educational best practices. Build relationships with PLCs to track student performance and use data to assess the effectiveness of instructional strategies. Work with PLCs to use data from formative and summative assessments, as well as classroom observations, to drive instructional decisions and tailor interventions for individual students. Share data insights with teachers and leadership to inform school-wide instructional strategies and decisions. Collaborate with leadership teams to promote fidelity of implementation of Continuous Improvement Plans (CIP) to develop and implement action plans based on assessment data to address areas of student underperformance or learning gaps. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Knowledge of human growth and development. Knowledge of grade level curriculum standards; knowledge of the science of reading. Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, knowledge of classroom management technique and Knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to Special Education. Expertise in effective instructional strategies, classroom management, and student engagement techniques. Ability to mentor and coach teachers, provide constructive feedback and foster professional growth. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents. Data-driven decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze student performance and instructional effectiveness. A deep understanding of educational standards, assessment practices, and how to differentiate instruction for diverse learners. Proficiency with educational technology and online learning platforms. Leadership skills to influence change and support school improvement initiatives. Ability to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; routinely gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing a variety of complex processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups and work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes. In working with others, independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. Certification and Experience South Carolina Certification in Special Education or related area required. Bachelor's degree in education or a related field (required). Master's degree in education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field (preferred). State certification as a teacher (required), with an advanced certification or specializations (e.g., National Board Certification) being a plus. Ongoing professional development in teaching methods, leadership, or educational technologies is preferred. At least 5-7 years of successful teaching experience with a proven track record of student achievement. Previous experience in coaching, mentoring, or leadership roles within a school or educational setting is highly desirable. Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or professional teacher development is beneficial. Special Requirements Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License or ability to provide own transportation May be required to travel to school district buildings and professional meetings Prior to beginning employment, negative tb test results must be provided Physical Requirements/Working Conditions Work requires the occasional exertion of up to ten pounds of force. Work regularly requires exchange of accurate and detailed information through oral and written communication. Constantly operates a computer and other office business equipment. Ability to remain in stationary position for required meetings/work. Ability to move to other work locations. Visual acuity requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, and to receive detailed information through oral communications. Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating standard office equipment, and the use of advanced technology. Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g., business office, light traffic). Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under mild to high levels of stress. Must be on-call as a regular part of the job. The recommended candidate will be required to provide personal information necessary to complete the background check such as date of birth, gender, and race to remain in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. As part of the pre-employment process, candidates will be required to submit TB test results and complete designated employment tasks.
