Job Description
Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Inspire young learners and make a difference as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic elementary school setting near Saint George, SC. Five full-time, onsite positions are open for passionate educators dedicated to supporting students across a range of needs for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a contract opportunity for those looking to travel and experience a welcoming community, with guidance available for finding local living accommodations. As a valued member of the special education team, you'll be working 40 hours per week in one of the following roles:
- Two Resource Teachers, providing support to students across K-5th grades
- Two Core Replacement Teachers, engaging with K-5th students on essential curriculum modifications
- One Teacher specializing in Moderate to Severe needs within K-5th grades
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification, or eligibility for certification
- Prior experience teaching elementary-aged students in resource, core replacement, or moderate-severe classrooms strongly preferred
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to individualized instruction and inclusive practices
- Enthusiasm for professional growth and a positive, student-centered approach
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, effective instruction tailored to each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to foster student success
- Track progress and maintain thorough documentation related to academic and behavioral goals
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff development, and school events
- Adapt curriculum and classroom activities to meet a variety of learning needs
- Support a nurturing environment that encourages social, emotional, and academic growth Imagine contributing to an energetic school community, with the possibility of exploring virtual options later in the summer.
