Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education Teacher working in a multi-categorical elementary classroom setting. For the 2026-2027 academic year, bring your expertise in supporting young learners with a variety of needs to an inclusive and nurturing environment. Your role will focus on fostering student growth by providing specialized, individualized instruction while building collaborative relationships with staff and families. You'll play a vital part in shaping the educational experience for students with disabilities, ensuring they access quality learning and reach their potential.
Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and small-group instruction aligned with students' IEP goals and learning plans Adapt lesson plans and curriculum materials to address varied academic, behavioral, and developmental needs Implement positive behavior interventions and classroom management strategies to create a structured, supportive setting Collaborate closely with general education teachers, service providers, and families to promote optimal outcomes Track, assess, and document student progress while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations Participate actively in IEP meetings, professional development, and team-based problem-solving
Qualifications:
Hold a valid South Carolina Special Education certification, or be eligible for state certification Experience with elementary-aged children and multi-categorical disabilities is highly desirable Demonstrated proficiency in differentiating instruction and managing diverse classroom behaviors Effective communicator, team player, and advocate for students' individualized needs This full-time, contract position allows you to make a lasting impact in the lives of elementary students and join a supportive, mission-driven educational community.
