Job Description

Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) 2026-2027
School Year Location:
Varnville, SC Contract Position • 39 Weeks • 37.5 hrs/week
Start Date:
August 3, 2026 We are seeking a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide high-quality instructional support and accessible learning experiences to students with visual impairments. This educator will deliver individualized and group instruction, promote social, emotional, and academic growth, and help students build the skills and competencies needed for long-term success. This role will serve students across the district (location TBD) and works within a highly supportive team and leadership structure. Key Responsibilities Plan, organize, and implement developmentally appropriate instructional programs for students with visual impairments. Provide direct instruction to support academic, social, and emotional development. Adapt curriculum and educational materials to meet student needs. Collaborate with school teams, including general education teachers, SPED leadership, and families. Participate in IEP processes, documentation, and progress monitoring using Ed Plan and PowerSchool . Support students in developing functional, adaptive, and independent living skills. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university (preferred) Valid state teaching certificate as required by state regulations One year of experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (preferred) Current CPR certification (if applicable) TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable) Current health certificate (as required by contract or state regulation) Compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements Must be at least 18 years of age Out-of-state certifications are accepted if valid and in good standing. Candidates seeking reciprocity must complete South Carolina's required steps prior to clearance.
