Goal:
This position is responsible for the professional instructions designed to provide academic, social, physical, and skills development for students in specific grades/subject areas to prepare them to be successful citizens and workers in the 21st century. This position will lead our high school students in developing skills in digital media production, television broadcasting, video editing, and journalism.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires an endorsement in the grade/subject taught with a valid Tennessee certificate, endorsement codes (427 or 428) Bachelor's degree in media studies, Communication, Film Production, Education, or a related field Governed by the Rules and Regulations of the Tennessee Code Annotated Must be physically and mentally able to perform the responsibilities and duties of the position Any other qualifications that the Superintendent deems appropriate and acceptable Professional experience in media production, TV broadcasting, or journalism preferred Experience operating broadcast and video equipment Familiarity with platforms such as Adobe Creative Suite, OBS, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools preferred Experience managing student media programs or clubs preferred
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Creates an educational environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and needs of the students; prepares instructional materials for classes assigned and provides written evidence of preparation to supervisor/administrator upon request Establishes a standard of classroom behavior; maintains classroom management in and outside of the school Assess the accomplishments of students on an established timetable and provides written and oral progress reports to parents/guardians, administrators and selected staff; administers tests and assessments Plans curriculum and prepares lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual needs of students within state and school requirements based on the educational, physical, and emotional levels of student development Confers with parents, administrators, specialists, mental health staff, and appropriate resource staff to develop educational programs for students Design and deliver engaging curriculum in digital media, video production, broadcasting, and journalism aligned with state standards Teach students how to write, film, produce, and edit news and entertainment content for broadcast Supervise student-led production of school news programs, morning announcements, or livestream events Instruct students in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro), camera operation, lighting, and audio techniques Foster a collaborative environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and effective storytelling Maintain and manage broadcasting equipment and studio spaces Organize student involvement in media-related competitions, showcases, and community projects Monitor and assess student performance through projects, portfolios, and presentations Stay current with industry trends and incorporate them into teaching practices Creates learning materials geared to students' abilities and interests Instructs students by using educational strategies and techniques to improve sensory-motor and perceptual-motor development, perception, memory language, communication skills, cognition, social, and emotional development Motivates students and provides consistent reinforcement of learning skills and provides continuous assessment and feedback to students for all learning activities Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, and district and administrative regulations Assists administration in implementing all policies, and rules governing student activities and conduct Sponsors student activities/clubs/teams/organization and tutors students as requested. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed by the Principal and/or Superintendent
Supervisory Responsibility:
Supervises students as designated on the class roster. Also supervises students in general common areas when class is not in session.
Working Conditions:
Exposure to the following situations may range from remote to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable. Standard classroom environment; Broadcast studio Consistent and prompt attendance is imperative for this role
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Regularly move about inside the classroom/school Ability to lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds.

Salary:
Salary determined based on education/experience per the ACS Teacher Salary Schedule•Current salary schedule 25-26 ACS Teacher Salary Schedule. The teacher maintains a forty-hour (40) workweek and works additional hours as required to carry out all the duties and responsibilities of the position. This is 10-month position.
