Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make an impact in the classroom by supporting the unique needs of students during the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time contract role near Jefferson City, TN, calls for a dedicated Special Education professional prepared to build meaningful learning experiences for young learners. Ideal candidates hold a 461 Special Education License, and those with a Gifted Endorsement will stand out. You'll take on one of two extended resource, self-contained caseloads: either 3rd-8th grade or K-2nd grade, helping students overcome learning challenges and achieve important educational milestones.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid 461 Special Education License required Gifted Endorsement preferred but not mandatory Experience working with extended resource or self-contained caseloads strongly valued Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills Commitment to tailoring curriculum and strategies to individual student needs Capable of maintaining documentation and participating in IEP meetings
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized instruction for a caseload of K-2nd or 3rd-8th grade students Create positive, structured classroom environments that foster growth and independence Collaborate closely with general educators, support staff, and families to ensure comprehensive student support Document student progress and modify instructional approaches appropriately Participate in ongoing training and school meetings, including IEP development and reviews Your expertise will give students the tools and confidence to find success in their learning journeys.
