The ideal candidate will be committed to creating an inclusive, supportive, and academically rigorous learning environment that empowers students to achieve their full potential. The individual must promote the school's culture of respecting neurodiversity, promoting equity and inclusion, and empowering students to succeed. Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized learning plans (ILPs) tailored to each student's unique learning needs, strengths, and goals Teach multiple academic subjects aligned with Tennessee State Standards across various content areas Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles, sensory needs, and cognitive profiles Provide direct instruction in subjects such as mathematics, language arts, science, and social studies Create and maintain a supportive, structured classroom environment that promotes academic and social-emotional growth Collaborate closely with other teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure comprehensive student support Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress and modify instructional approaches as needed Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student achievements, challenges, and educational strategies Implement positive behavioral support strategies and social skills development Manage and document student records, progress reports, and assessment data Participate in individualized learning plan (ILP) meetings and goal-setting conferences Integrate assistive technologies and specialized learning tools to support student learning Skills Proven experience in classroom management within special education settings Strong knowledge of childhood development, literacy education, math instruction, and behavioral therapy techniques Skilled in curriculum development tailored for students with disabilities or developmental disabilities Excellent communication skills for collaborating with colleagues, parents, and specialists Ability to develop and implement ILPs effectively while maintaining compliance with educational standards Experience working with individuals with autism, ADHD, or other specific disabilities; familiarity with behavioral health strategies is advantageous Competence in mentoring students, and providing Knowledge of resources that support inclusive learning environments Competence with technology and learning platforms. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Candidates must have a valid Tennessee teaching license with Special Education or Interventionist endorsement. At least one year of prior teaching experience is required (3 or more years preferred). Must have a commitment to the school's mission and to building mission-aligned partnerships. Must be able to work independently with a high degree of initiative while achieving high impact results and work effectively as part of a team.
