Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 7am to 11am About the Role Jovie Nashville is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and professional Childcare Specialist for a unique and deeply impactful full-time placement within a local women's shelter. The primary mission of this role is to provide a safe, nurturing, and stable environment for children while their mothers are actively working, attending job training, or participating in the shelter's various educational programs and classes. You will be a vital support system, giving these mothers the peace of mind they need to focus on rebuilding their lives and achieving independence.
Key Responsibilities Direct Childcare:
Provide attentive, loving, and age-appropriate care for children ranging from infants to school-aged youth.
Daily Routines:
Manage feeding schedules, nap times, diaper changes, and bedtime/rest routines.
Developmental Engagement:
Create a positive and structured environment by leading fun, educational activities, playtime, and reading blocks.
Support & Stability:
Offer emotional support and a calming presence to children who may be experiencing transition or stress.
Collaboration:
Maintain open, respectful communication with the shelter's program coordinators and mothers regarding the children's daily activities and well-being. Job Requirements Professional Infant Experience (Mandatory): Serious applicants must have documented experience working with infants in a professional setting (such as a licensed daycare, nanny agency, or specialized shelter program).
Verifiable References:
You must provide professional references who can explicitly confirm your experience and competency in infant care.
Background Cleared:
Must complete a comprehensive background check and vetting process in accordance with state childcare regulations.
Trauma-Informed Approach:
A patient, empathetic, and non-judgmental demeanor is required to work effectively within a shelter environment.
CPR & First Aid:
Current certification is preferred, but can be provided and funded through the employer (Jovie Nashville) prior to your start date.
