Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Step into an impactful educational role supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in the Chattanooga area. This full-time, school-based contract opportunity spans the 2026-2027 academic year (August 5, 2026-May 19, 2027) and offers the chance to make a positive difference working within K-12 settings. As a dedicated educator specializing in this field, you'll collaborate with district professionals to empower learners, foster communication, and promote academic growth.
Qualifications & Experience:
Active Department of Education Certification with appropriate endorsement for Deaf/Hard of Hearing Ability to fulfill time-sensitive credentialing needs, including fingerprint clearance Demonstrated expertise working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students—either in individual, small group, or classroom settings Strong communication and collaboration skills for working across multidisciplinary teams Commitment to adapting instruction to diverse age groups and educational needs (specifics on caseload and age range to be confirmed)
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction, support, and advocacy for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to promote student success Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to align with various hearing abilities and communication modes Serve as a liaison between school teams, families, and external specialists Provide consultative support and coaching for staff to ensure inclusive learning environments Track student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in regular IEP/504 meetings This is a rewarding opportunity to utilize your specialized skills in an environment committed to student achievement.
