Full-time Job Goal:
The Special Programs Case Manager will be responsible for coordinating Special Education, Section 504, and Dyslexia Programs in compliance with federal, state, and district requirements for the assigned campus at the district and ensuring provision of effective instructional and related services per IEPs and 504 plans developed based on individual student needs Responsibilities Understands and supports the mission, vision, and values of Harmony Public Schools. Manages the IEP and 504 process in all aspects, including initial and re-evaluations, all required meetings, documentation and reporting, and compliance with all applicable laws and policies for the assigned campus at the district. Plans, prepares, and facilitates ARD/504 meetings, and serves as a member of the Admission, Review and Dismissal/504Committee. Participates in placement decisions based on educational, sociological, and physiological data presented to the committee. Establishes new objectives based on the findings of the evaluation team to be presented as recommendations to the ARD Committee. Monitors and supports the school's compliance with timelines and state and federal regulations. Responds to inquiries or complaints from parents in a timely manner. Assists regular school personnel in providing an appropriate educational environment for mainstreamed students. Trains teachers of special population, general education teachers, and other staff, and ensures they understand and comply with confidentiality of students in accordance with both state and federal laws. Participates in professional development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned Assists school administration in scheduling classes for SPED instruction. Assists in the planning and implementation of staff development and in-service programs pertaining to special education. Monitors

students' academic progress that is reflected in the formative and summative evaluations to ensure students meet desired educational goals, and uses assessment results to coordinate SPED instruction and schedule. Compiles, maintains, submits, and files all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required by the district, state, and federal laws. Ensures SPED classroom(s) and/or instructional environment is safe, organized, and conducive to learning, with accessibility to all students. Establishes and maintains communication, both written and oral, with parents, students, principals, and teachers to keep them informed of student progress. Collaborates with district personnel, Region service centers, and other professionals to carry out school-wide instructional or related activities for

students to ensure they have an equitable educational opportunity. Continually communicates with students on instructional expectations and keeps them informed of their progress in meeting those expectations. Provides SPED instruction if assigned. If the coordinator has a teaching role, comply with the position description of a SPED teacher. Supports general education/special education teachers and administrators in the implementation of appropriate strategies to meet the needs of students with disabilities. Supports implementation of accommodations and modifications for students with IEPs in the general education classroom and during Special Education service time Ensures implementation of instructional programs which utilizes knowledge of learning styles and modalities andcorrelates Individual Education Plans with regular program curriculum guides. Ensures timely dissemination of modifications, accommodations, and IEPs to the related teachers and personnel and keeps related documentation Plans, develops, implements, and administers programs and services to meet identified needs, including the development and implementation of new programs and services Redesigns curriculum to suit new objectives.o Suggests alternative teaching methods Assesses relation between student performance and handicapping condition. Identifies the need for remedial or tutorial assistance to students. Utilizes the special education staff and coordinates input to meet the needs of each special education child. Maintains confidential records of assigned students and completes reports and other evaluations. Creates and maintains Special Education documentation as required by federal, state, and district regulations Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Minimum 2 years of special education teaching experience (Preferred) Valid Texas Educator Certification with required special education endorsement (Preferred)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and the Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal-setting process and implementation Ability to prioritize tasks and coordinate multiple projects to meet specific deadlines Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information Ability to maintain professional behavior, appearance, and work ethic to always represent HPS in a positive manner Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, both internal and external to the district. Ability to use a computer, including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet, and word processing software, calculator, copy machine, and telephone. Ability to analyze data Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Light Work:
may require occasional light lifting. Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required. The position is based at a Harmony campus and requires on-site presence during regular business hours. The position may require assignment to multiple campuses, depending on need and caseload. Position is in an office setting and may involve prolonged desk work in one location. Excessive travel may be required. Work Hours Normal School hours / 201 days
