Job Description

•GRANBURY ISD requires three references from former employers, college professors, supervisors, etc. with at least a minimum of two references being from previous supervisors. Granbury ISD will not accept references from friends or family members.•

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Teachers will equip all students with skills to be inspired, contributing citizens excelling in any chosen endeavor within a dynamic global society. Teachers will provide Leadership, Engagement, and Innovation within their classroom to foster student success.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Valid Texas teaching certificate, with required endorsements for subject/level assigned; Special Education endorsement preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of online learning platforms; Edgenuity experience preferred General knowledge of TEKS and instruction Ability to work with challenging students with significant credit deficiencies in high school
Experience:
Student teaching or approved internship Success with at-risk students preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Intstructional Strategies Develop and implement systems for successfully motivating and monitoring online learners. Prepare and differentiate lessons to improve student effort and character building that reflect accommodations for individual student differences. Present all subject matters according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policy, and administrative guidelines. Plan and use appropriate instructional/learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned. Awareness of various student-learning styles and the use of professional judgement in selecting instructional activities. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established by Individual Education Plans (IEP). Maintain accurate records in relation to student grading and course progress that accurately reflects what is being taught through TEKS based instruction. Cooperate with counselors and other members of the SOAR staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements. Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteers(s). Use technologies in the teaching/learning process. Student Growth and Development Assist students in analyzing and improving methods and habits of study. Consistently assess student achievement activities through summative and formative assessments. Assume responsibilities for extracurricular activities as assigned and if desired, may sponsor outside activities approved by the school. Present a positive role model for students that supports the mission of GHS and the school district. Classroom Management and Organization Create a classroom environment conductive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Manage student behavior in the classroom and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and if applicable to IEP. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials; coordinate SOAR programming with all other SOAR / Edgenuity teachers on campus. Communication Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents. Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members. Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Professional Growth and Development Participate in the district staff development program. Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement. Exemplify high standards of ethical conduct as described in board policy. Observe professional and ethical standards, in accordance with generally accepted community standards and the Professional Educators Code of Ethics. Policy Implementation Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise assigned teacher aide(s) if applicable.
