188 daysPRIMARY PURPOSE
Evaluate children who are suspected of being deaf or hard of hearing. Provide direct instructional intervention and consultation to facilitate educational progress of students. Serve as the DHH teacher for IEP meetings and develop IEPs for students served. Provide services for children aged 0-2 that are served through ECI. Provide homebound instruction to special education students. Will travel to campuses and homes throughout Granbury ISD attendance zone.QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education Texas State Teacher's Certification in Deaf Education Texas State Teacher's Certification in Special EducationSpecial Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills American Sign Language skills are not required, but are useful when working with nonverbal and/or language delayed studentsExperience:
Three years successful teaching experience with children who have hearing disabilities (preferred)MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1. Plan and provide direct and consultative services consistent with goals contained in students' Individual Education Plans (IEP) or Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP). 2. Evaluate student progress and complete all required documentation (SHARS billing, progress reports, data collection, service notes, mileage forms, attendance sheets, etc..) 3. Assess students with disabilities and determine eligibility for services. 4. Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist with the interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and goal setting for students according to district procedures. 5. Consult with educational staff and parents regarding services for students. 6. Provide staff development training in assigned school to assist school personnel with using student's hearing devices. 7. Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant people to enhance their work with students. 8. Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity level, interests, and needs of the student. 9. Establish control and administer discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. 10. Assist in the selection of equipment and adaptive material. 11. Develop and maintain effective individual and group relationships with students and parents. 12. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records and other documents required. 13. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy. 14. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations. 15. Effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents. 16. Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
