Although he is 10 years old, he still appears very baby-like in many ways. He is incredibly smart, verbal, and able to communicate well. He has a fun personality, attends school, and loves interaction but also enjoys just playing on his iPad, playing with his toys and watching tv. He does not walk at this time but gets around well by crawling or his wheelchair. This position is funded through the Texas Medically Dependent Children's Program (MDCP). Our family personally chooses and hires the caregiver, while payroll and HR are handled through EAK. Schedule We are open to hiring one caregiver for all shifts or splitting the schedule between two caregivers.

7:00 PM•10:00 PM Please note: hours may change somewhat depending on the time of year, including summer schedules versus school-year schedules. Please note hours are until 12am on Monday•Wednesday and Sunday but 95% of the time you will leave at 10pm.

Responsibilities:

Supervision and companionship Assisting with daily routines and activities Helping maintain a safe and supportive environment Diaper changes and personal care assistance. Baths on full work days. Transfers and helping place him into bed for nap on full work days. Engaging in fun, age-appropriate activities Following family routines and instructions Assisting with feeding tube care during full daytime shifts, including up to two scheduled pump feedings Providing oral feeds and water through the feeding tube as instructed Giving pre-prepared medications during full-day shifts (all medications will be clearly laid out and organized for you with instructions provided) Clean son's bathroom and shower at least once a week. For all evening shifts, his feedings will already be completed before the caregiver arrives, so no feeding responsibilities would be required during those hours. Training and instructions will be provided, and we are looking for someone who is comfortable learning a feeding tube. You just hook it up and load formula, it stops on its own. Physical Requirements Our son currently weighs approximately 56 pounds. The caregiver must be comfortable with lifting and physical assistance as needed for transfers, diaper changes, and bedtime routines. Ideal Candidate Patient, caring, and dependable Comfortable working with children with disabilities or special needs Prior caregiving experience is helpful but not required Reliable transportation Able to pass any required background checks through the program This position could be a great fit for someone studying nursing, education, therapy, social work, or anyone with a genuine heart for helping children with special needs.
