Description:
Our Learning Skills classroom is part of our student-supported classroom model. Students in this class demonstrate increased need for instruction regarding self-regulation skills and benefit from a learning environment that emphasizes positive behavior interventions. The teacher will be working mostly with behavior management systems and supporting classroom instruction in other academic areas as aligned with the Utah State Core Standards. A Special Education license or current enrollment in a SPED program is required. Experience in Applied Behavior Analysis is strongly preferred. Essential Functions 1. Implements the assigned program of study. 2. Fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning using principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) - classroom organization systems, visual schedules, modified seating, transition supports, etc. 3. Utilizes instructional management systems that increase student learning and maximize time on task using principles of Applied Behavior Analysis - including a level system, token economy, and positive reinforcement strategies. 4. Follows behavioral interventions in the student'sBehavior Intervention Plan with fidelity and takes accurate data. 5. Work with student's General Education teachers to assist the student in work completion as given by the General Education teacher. 6. With the support of the school team, helps students in sequential steps to transition to their General Education setting as they show the ability to self-regulate behaviors. 7. Develops and implements Individual Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with school policy. 8. Monitor student progress towards achieving instructional objectives and goals on the IEPs. 9. Communicates effectively within the educational team and with parents on a regular basis. 10. Meets professional responsibilities. 11. Maintains and upgrades professional skills. 12. Maintains professional work habits. 13. Promotes and maintains positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships. 14. Adheres to the teacher code of conduct. 15. Performs other job related duties a s assigned by the Principal, Behavior Services Coordinator, and the Regional Director 16. Conduct transition assessments. 17. Provide transition instruction. 18. Draft annual transition plans. Qualifications 1. Candidates must qualified Bachelor's degree and dual licensure including SpEd. Transcripts will be requested. 2. A minimum of one year experience implementing principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. 3. RBT preferred 4. NCI certification preferred Reports to
