Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by supporting their educational journey as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired on a contract basis. In this role, you will provide essential itinerant services for approximately 20 students in grades K-12, working collaboratively across the district while partnering with an experienced virtual TVI already on assignment. The focus of this position is on in-person support, as the district is not considering an additional remote teacher at this time.
Qualifications:
Valid Virginia Department of Education License with endorsement for Visually Impaired Students (required) Minimum of two years of recent teaching experience Strong ability to write and implement effective IEPs Demonstrated skill in collaborating with related services staff and supporting diverse student needs
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instructional and consultative services to students with visual impairments across multiple school sites Develop, monitor, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) with measurable goals tailored to each student's unique needs Coordinate with general and special education staff, as well as families, to facilitate student access to the curriculum and school activities Utilize appropriate adaptive materials, technology, and instructional strategies to maximize learning outcomes Provide guidance and resources to staff and caregivers to foster inclusive educational environments If you thrive on meaningful connections and are ready to provide transformative support to students with visual impairments, this opportunity offers a rewarding avenue to grow your expertise.
