Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to join our dedicated educational team. In this vital role, you will provide specialized instruction and support to students with hearing impairments, fostering their communication, literacy, and academic development. Your expertise will help students access the curriculum effectively while promoting independence and confidence. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with hearing challenges, supporting their growth in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs, including goals for speech therapy, literacy, math, and social skills. Deliver engaging lessons that incorporate learning technology, instructional design principles, and evidence-based practices for deaf education. Collaborate with speech therapists, audiologists, parents, and other specialists to coordinate services such as behavioral therapy, music therapy, and visual impairment education. Adapt curriculum materials to accommodate students with disabilities, including those with autism or developmental disabilities. Manage classroom behavior through effective classroom management strategies and behavioral health techniques to create a positive learning environment. Use assessment tools such as standardized testing to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Provide mentorship and guidance to students, fostering their social-emotional development and promoting inclusive participation in physical education and recreational activities. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Deaf Education or related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid teaching certification/license for working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Proven classroom experience working with children with disabilities, including early childhood or preschool settings. Knowledge of speech therapy techniques, auditory training, and sign language is highly desirable. Familiarity with learning technology tools, instructional design methods, and curriculum development for special education. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and caregivers. Experience in developing IEPs and implementing individualized instructional strategies aligned with childhood development principles. Ability to manage classroom behavior using behavioral management techniques and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
