Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract An exceptional opportunity awaits for an experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired to support students across K-12 in a contract role near Franklin, VA. In this position, you'll provide itinerant educational services within the district, collaborating closely with an established virtual TVI already supporting the district's needs. The caseload consists of approximately 20 students, and you'll interact with a diverse group of learners, educators, and specialists.
Qualifications:
Active Virginia Department of Education License - Endorsement in Visually Impaired Students required At least two years of recent teaching experience supporting visually impaired students Demonstrated expertise in writing and implementing IEPs Proven ability to collaborate effectively with related service providers and other educational staff Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Comfortable traveling between schools within the district (itinerant services) Commitment to fostering independence and advocacy skills in students
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction and service to students with visual impairments across multiple school sites Develop, write, and implement IEPs tailored to each student's unique needs Work synergistically with the district's current virtual TVI and wider educational support team Regularly assess and document student progress, making modifications as appropriate Advise staff and families on best practices, adaptive technology, and accessible educational materials Facilitate smooth transitions and support student success throughout all grade levels Take the next step in your teaching career and make a significant difference for students who are visually impaired.
