Job Description

Overview:
University Instructors (UI) is seeking a dynamic Instructor Quality Specialist with a passion for instructional design, supervision, and coaching for classroom instructors. In this role, you will work in schools to observe instruction, provide formal instructional feedback, and ensure that UI instructors deliver high quality instruction to students receiving special education services in our partner districts. You will observe, provide feedback to, and coach UI instructors working with students in special education programs. Responsibilities:
Formal Observation & Instructional Coaching Perform on-site formal observations of UI instructors within K-12 classroom/instructional settings Provide detailed instructional feedback to UI instructors on teaching practices, lesson delivery, classroom management, and pedagogical approaches Develop and implement Collaborative Instructional Coaching Plans for UI instructors and/or school district employees to improve instructional practice Conduct pre-observation conferences to discuss lesson objectives and postobservation conferences to provide constructive feedback Serve as the primary instructional coach and pedagogical resource for all UI instructors Collaborate with Instructor Support Specialists to implement instructional coaching cycles Complete required documentation for school visits, including observation notes and recommended action items for improvement in instructional design and delivery Instructional Problem-Solving & Support Partner with Instructor Support Specialists to provide instructors with researchbased, pedagogically sound solutions to academic and/or behavioral issues that arise during instruction Function as the expert resource in the areas of special education, individualized education programs, instructional pedagogy, assessment practices, and classroom management for UI instructors Guide instructors on implementing instructional best practices, the instructional cycle, social-emotional learning strategies, and behavior management techniques Respond to instructor requests for instructional guidance and pedagogical support Professional Development & Training Create and deliver training and professional development sessions for UI instructors and/or school district employees focused on instructional excellence, data analysis, supporting special populations, and other topics as needed Design professional development that addresses instructional pedagogies, methodologies, and evidence-based teaching practices Facilitate ongoing professional learning opportunities to build instructor capacity in content delivery and student engagement Tailor training content to align with state accreditation standards and district instructional expectations Data Analysis & Instructional Improvement Analyze student performance data in classrooms led by UI instructors to identify instructional trends and opportunities for improvement to ensure special education compliance and advance student achievement Make data-informed recommendations for changes within the instructional setting to advance student achievement and collaborate with Instructor Support Specialists to implement changes Help instructors use assessment data to inform instructional decisions and differentiate instruction Monitor instructional quality trends across the program and recommend systemic improvements that include the role of the Instructor Quality Specialist in implementing change Compliance & Safety Document and immediately report any safety or compliance concerns shared by instructors Ensure instructors understand and follow school and district policies, procedures, and compliance requirements Monitor program compliance with contractual requirements and UI policies Collaborative Communication Communicate and meet with Instructor Support Specialists to ensure instructors receive comprehensive support and receive insights that may inform instructional coaching strategies Communicate and meet with supervisor to provide updates on instructor performance, potential issues with program implementation, changes in instructor assignments that impact program quality, and any concerns including those received from school administration and staff Program Quality Partner with Instructor Support Specialists to monitor the quality of program implementation on an ongoing basis with a focus on progress toward intended outcomes Complete quarterly campus visits to examine program quality based on established success measures and provide actionable feedback and recommendations on all campus-based aspects of program implementation School Partnerships Maintain a positive rapport with school administration and staff Attend customer meetings to provide instructional expertise and discuss teaching quality Align instructional support with school administration's instructional goals and expectations Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Qualifications Knowledge and Skills We are looking for someone who possesses: Instructional design and delivery experience in the K-12 setting Strong understanding of individual education plans (IEPs), including modifications and accommodations and their connection to student goals and objectives, and ensuring students in special education programs receive the appropriate support documented in their IEPs Administrative experience to include knowledge of and experience completing the teacher observation cycle Understanding of collaborative and direct coaching models Deep knowledge of instructional pedagogies, methodologies, and assessment practices Familiarity with state accreditation standards Effective oral and written communication skills, particularly in providing constructive instructional feedback Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build coaching relationships with educators Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace) Excellent time management and organizational skills, including prioritizing, scheduling, and adapting as necessary The ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple observation cycles simultaneously Strong ability to work both independently with little supervision and collaboratively as part of a team Education and Work Experience A successful applicant has a passion for advocating for and helping students and instructors succeed in addition to the following: Minimum of a master's degree K-12 administrative license required Minimum of 5 years of experience in a K-12 special education classroom Minimum of 3 years of administrative leadership experience in a K-12 public school district in one or more of the following areas: special education, instruction, curriculum, and/or schools (e.g., district-level director, principal, district-level program coordinator) required
