General Definition of Work:
Under direction of the school principal, plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences for students. Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Supervise students in a variety of school related settings. Monitor and evaluate student outcomes. Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff and community. Develop, select and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Maintain appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities. Create and deliver instruction following the Aligned Standards of Learning utilizing a variety of adaptive methods to address the unique cognitive, communication and behavioral needs of students with significant disabilities. Plan and provide assessment activities to demonstrate student learning through the Virginia Alternate Assessment Program (VAAP). Create and deliver instruction to address individual functional skills needs related to communication, behavior, social and daily living skills. Establish and maintain a highly structured learning environment that promotes whole-group, small-group and individual learning opportunities. Collaborate with school personnel to create meaningful inclusion opportunities for students with significant disabilities. Collaborate with a variety of school-based teams to develop individualized plans to promote student academic, adaptive and behavioral success. Apply a wide range of adaptive strategies and interventions to promote instructional access. Administer a variety of assessment and data collection practices to monitor student progress.Position Type:
