Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Exciting opportunity available for an experienced Teacher for the Visually Impaired to work on a contract basis supporting K-12 students. Serving a diverse caseload of approximately 20 students, this role combines direct, in-person engagement across multiple school sites with the chance to collaborate closely with our current virtual TVI specialist. This position is ideal for educators who excel in providing itinerant services and who are passionate about advancing accessibility and independent learning for students with visual impairments.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Virginia Department of Education License with an endorsement for Visually Impaired Students (required) Minimum of two years' recent experience teaching students with visual impairments Strong proficiency in writing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with related services staff and ensure accommodations are met Flexibility to travel between school locations across the district Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students in both elementary and secondary settings
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver itinerant instructional services to students in grades K-12 with varying levels of visual impairment Assess student needs, adapt curriculum materials, and recommend appropriate technologies and strategies to support access Work in partnership with IEP teams, including families, administrators, and related service providers Monitor student progress and maintain thorough, timely documentation Support the continuity of services alongside a current virtual TVI; all services to be delivered in-person If you thrive in a role that values collaboration, adaptability, and advocacy while making a meaningful impact on student growth, your expertise is needed!
