Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful contract opportunity as an instructor supporting students with visual impairments. This position offers the chance to make a lasting difference across multiple grade levels, with a caseload of around 20 students from kindergarten through 12th grade. As an itinerant specialist, you'll visit a variety of sites, delivering personalized instruction and collaborating seamlessly with an experienced virtual Teacher for the Visually Impaired who is also serving the district. Your knowledge will be crucial in empowering students to develop essential academic and life skills. You'll foster inclusion, adapt curriculum materials, and ensure consistent progress by implementing and managing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Your efforts will be supported by collaboration with related services staff and district professionals dedicated to educational equity. To be considered for this rewarding role, candidates should meet the following qualifications: Valid Virginia Department of Education License for teaching students with visual impairments (required) Minimum of 2 years' recent teaching experience Strong skills in writing and managing IEPs Experience working collaboratively with related services teams Flexible approach and readiness to travel within the district for itinerant support Key responsibilities include: Providing direct and consultative services to visually impaired students Tailoring instruction based on each student's IEP Working closely with families, classroom teachers, and support staff Embracing a hybrid collaboration model with an on-assignment virtual TVI Maintaining careful records and ongoing communication regarding student progress In this role, you will build meaningful connections and take pride in helping students thrive in their academic journeys.
