Job Description

LEAD TEACHER SUMMARY OF POSITION
The primary goal of the Lead Teacher is to provide a loving, safe, and developmentally appropriate program rooted in our core values. All aspects of the classroom and curriculum must support and enhance each child's physical, intellectual, social, and emotional well-being.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Program and Curriculum Demonstrate love through gentleness, kindness, and patience — be firm, yet nurturing Prepare and implement weekly lesson plans that are educational and developmentally appropriate Create a fun and engaging classroom environment through stimulating bulletin boards, learning centers, artwork, educational toys, and materials Establish clear classroom rules, routines, and appropriate disciplinary practices Monitor and assess each child's development and progress Maintain complete and accurate records (attendance, daily reports, progress reports, etc.) Ensure facilities, furniture, and equipment are clean, well-maintained, and safe at all times Sanitize toys every Friday or at least once per week Use school supplies, materials, and equipment responsibly Provide nutritious snacks and meals at appropriate times Establish and maintain ongoing communication with parents and caregivers Child Supervision Maintain a safe environment and establish rules for safe play Administer positive, age-appropriate discipline Respond quickly and appropriately to injuries and accidents Attend to basic hygiene needs (bathroom assistance, handwashing, cleaning up) Communicate clearly and effectively in a manner children understand Be familiar with and follow all emergency procedures Relationship with the Assistant Teacher Develop a professional, friendly, and positive working relationship Collaborate to promote a fun, supportive, and nurturing classroom atmosphere Clearly communicate classroom expectations and responsibilities Share and review weekly lesson plans and planned activities Administrative Responsibilities Communicate with the Head of School and administrative staff regarding children, curriculum, classroom needs, activities, and events Participate in professional development opportunities provided by the school Submit required paperwork and documentation in a timely manner Perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES
Knowledge The Lead Teacher must demonstrate proficiency in: Child development and early education theories and best practices Safe and appropriate activities for children Relevant policies and procedures to ensure children are supervised and safe at all times Skills The Lead Teacher must demonstrate: Strong teaching ability Supervisory skills Problem-solving skills Decision-making ability Effective verbal communication and active listening Organizational skills Strong interpersonal skills Personal Attributes The Lead Teacher must demonstrate: Professionalism Cultural awareness and sensitivity Respect Flexibility Consistency and fairness Compassion and understanding Patience Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
