Job Description

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. This opportunity is for a Special Education Teacher position in a small K-8 school located in Danville, VT. The contract runs from March 3rd through June 19th, with a full 40-hour workweek. This role offers experience working with a diverse group of students, including those with intensive disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and multiple disabilities. The classroom environment includes 12 students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 5 students with 504 plans. Most services are delivered through pull-out sessions, with occasional push-in support to integrate students in the general education setting. This structure provides a balanced approach to specialized support while fostering inclusion.
Key responsibilities include:
Designing and implementing individualized instructional plans tailored to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities Collaborating with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure compliance with IEP and 504 plans Providing both pull-out and push-in services to support students' academic and social development Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with federal and state special education regulations Managing behavior interventions and promoting a positive learning environment Qualifications and experience desired: Valid Special Education teaching certification Experience working with students with ASD and multiple disabilities preferred Strong understanding of federal and state special education laws and best practices Excellent communication and collaboration skills Ability to adapt instructional methods to meet diverse learner needs This position welcomes candidates interested in travel assignments, offering a chance to work in a small school setting with meaningful impact.
