Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Embark on a meaningful teaching journey supporting students in a life skills classroom this school year. An opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to work with a small, close-knit group of five students. This position offers flexibility, welcoming candidates interested in either part-time or full-time hours.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Special Education Teaching certification Experience with life skills programs and individualized education plans (IEPs) Ability to create adaptive lesson plans tailored to varying abilities Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills Previous work in a school setting preferred Understanding of positive behavior support and differentiated instruction
Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction in a life skills classroom to a group of five students Develop, modify, and implement lesson plans aligned with each student's IEP Foster a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that promotes growth and independence Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and other educators to maximize student support Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student achievements and needs Maintain accurate documentation consistent with school and district guidelines This contract role presents a unique chance to make a daily difference in students' lives while working in a supportive environment.
