Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful educational opportunity providing support for students with visual impairments. This full-time, contract role is tailored for a credentialed Teacher of the Visually Impaired who is passionate about making a real difference. The position serves multiple sites as an itinerant educator during the 26/27 school year, working in person with flexibility for hybrid scheduling where appropriate.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Current, valid Washington TVI (Teacher of the Visually Impaired) licensure is mandatory Prior experience working as a Visually Impaired Teacher or in a similar role with K-12 students is highly desirable Comfortable adapting curriculum and materials to meet the needs of visually impaired learners Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with faculty, staff, and families Confidence working as an itinerant educator, traveling between locations as assigned Organized, flexible, and committed to developing individualized programs
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction and specialized services to students with visual impairments across multiple school sites Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Assist classroom teachers by providing strategies and resources for accessible lesson delivery Conduct functional vision assessments and adapt learning materials for optimal accessibility Serve as a resource for staff and families, offering expert guidance and advocacy Foster an inclusive, positive, and engaging classroom environment Enjoy the professional fulfillment that comes with supporting students' growth and independence, all while working on a supportive school-based team.
