Traveler Seeking a Teacher of the Visually Impaired to join our team in WA state for the 2026-27 school year. Great opportunity to enjoy the Pacific North West and all of the beautiful scenery and outdoor activities it has to offer. You'll make a difference in kids' lives everyday while investing in yourself on this lucrative travel assignment. Situated south of Seattle, Tukwila is the metro area's most accessible, affordable, and multicultural destination.
Key Details:
Assessments:
Conduct Functional Vision Assessments (FVA) and Learning Media Assessments (LMA) to determine how a student uses their vision in educational settings and identify their primary literacy media (e.g., Braille, large print, or auditory).
IEP Development:
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary Individualized Education Program (IEP) team to develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals.
Specialized Instruction:
Teach the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC), which includes compensatory skills, sensory-motor skills, independent living skills, and assistive technology.
Material Adaptation:
Modify and format classroom materials into accessible formats, such as Braille, tactile graphics, or enlarged print.
Consultation & Collaboration:
Serve as the vision expert on the educational team.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education with a specialized endorsement or focus on Visual Impairments.
Certification:
Valid state teaching license (Special Education or General Education) along with a TVI credential. A CDE Certificate of Braille Competency or equivalent National Literary Braille Competency test is frequently required.
Technology Proficiency:
Working knowledge of both low- and high-tech assistive devices, such as screen readers, magnifiers, Braille printers, and built-in accessibility features on tablets and computers Our awesome Ardor benefits include: Weekly pay, every Friday! Travel Farther Together Referral Program:
Payout is tiered. The $1,200 per clinician reward applies only after you've referred 10 or more clinicians who successfully contract with Ardor.
Payouts are split:
50% when the referred clinician starts, and 50% when they reach the midpoint of their assignment.
License, Certification & CE Assistance:
Reimbursements and assistance are offered on a case-by-case basis. Approval must be documented by your recruiting team and is not guaranteed for every clinician or assignment. 820456
