Salary:
East Valley Certificated Salary Schedule, $35,586.00 - $71,673.60 depending on placement per degree, credits, and experience.

Employee Benefit Information Job Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the principal, Director of Special Programs, or designee, this teaching position will plan instruction, teach, motivate, inspire, and assess students in English. This teaching position will teach courses of varying subjects in English to speakers of other languages, integrating language acquisition into their curriculum. This teaching position will provide students with the tools to communicate in English through speech, reading, writing, and listening. This teaching position will promote a high-quality education program that reflects the district's education programs and supports classroom teachers on identified needs of multilingual (ML) students.
Essential Job Functions:
This list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Depending upon individual assignment, the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties: Provides specially designed programs for ML students in English/Language Arts and content areas that will help to develop communication and other skills necessary for success in the regular classroom setting and in life situations. Assist in developing language acquisition support plans for all ML students and work with classroom teachers to implement plans. Assist in developing appropriate curriculum to help ML students acquire the English language. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and teaching strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of students, including group or individual learning. Work with classroom teachers to support differentiated instruction. Assist in administering required language proficiency and academic achievement tests for determining placement for students in K-12, along with ongoing monitoring of student progress. Maintain database of ML and ML eligible students. Implement adopted K-12 education programs and provide for individual learning needs of students. Assist in the evaluation of K-12 education programs and the selection and evaluation of instructional equipment and materials. Develop lesson plans and teaching outlines using the district's adopted curriculum and instructional program guidelines. Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans. Teach using various methodologies, including lectures, demonstrations, and discussions. Perform curriculum and instructional development activities. Utilize an inquiry based hands on approach in your classroom. Teach effective communication skills. Be responsible for constructive classroom management and environment. Meet course and school wide student performance goals. Create positive educational climate for students to learn. Provide social and academic guidance for students under his/her direction. Promote the district's educational goals through parent conferences and related activities. Counsel, confer, and communicate with parents and school district personnel regarding student progress. Observe and evaluate students' performance. Maintain appropriate student records. Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures. Will participate in grade level PLC using data to close the achievement gap. Maintain and promote personal professional growth through appropriate coursework, workshops, reading of professional materials, etc. Assist in upholding and enforcing school district rules, administrative regulations, and board policies. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Requires the use of multiple communication systems, such as electronic mail and computers. Inspect school or district facilities for the purpose of ensuring that the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and/or identifying necessary repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc. The employee shall maintain a consistent presence at the assigned work site(s) and work the regular work hours specified by the contract. Professionally interact with colleagues, members of the public, and students. Comply with all district policies and all applicable laws. Perform special assignments and other duties as assigned or required by the supervisor.
Desired Skills:
May require a degree of physical strength and dexterity that exceeds the level required of general education and some other special education teachers. Demonstrate understanding and ability to implement a trauma informed learning environment where the needs of the whole child are accounted for in classroom design. Understand and apply current educational developments and instructional methodologies. Flexible in learning new concepts and adapting to a variety of assignments and conditions. Communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written forms. Display enthusiasm, optimism, and motivation towards teaching and student learning. Participate in school, district, and community events. Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds or 33% of body weight, whichever is less.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Washington State Teaching certificate, no later than the first contracted day of the 2024/2025 school year with appropriate endorsements as required by law and regulations. Required to have an English Language Learner endorsement. School degree in related field preferred. Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance. Valid Washington State driver's license or evidence of mobility. Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later). I - 9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act. Completion of all district - required training within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to deal with distraught and/or angry persons and may be exposed to infectious diseases carried by children. The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment and can vary depending upon daily activity but will remain within acceptable ranges.
Evaluation:
The K-12 Multilingual Teacher shall be evaluated per the terms of the East Valley Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement. The process shall include an evaluation of the employee's performance of the above essential job functions.
