POSITION
Aide Autism Mentor, Itinerate â€" 1 position Aide I â€" means those personnel selected and trained for teacher aide classification such as monitor aide, clerical aide, classroom aide or general aide. Aide II â€" means those personnel referred to in the "Aide I" classification who have completed a training program approved by the state board, or who hold a high school diploma or have received a general educational development certificate. Only personnel classified in an Aide II class title may be employed as an aide in any special education program. Aide III â€" means those personnel referred to in the "Aide I" classification who hold a high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and have completed six semester hours of college credit at an institution of higher education or are employed as an aide in a special education program and have one year's experience as an aide in special education. Aide IV â€" means personnel referred to in the "Aide I" classification who hold a high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and have completed eighteen semester hours of state board-approved college credit at a regionally accredited institution of higher education, or who have completed fifteen hours of state board-approved college credit at a regionally accredited institution of higher education and successfully completed an in-service training program determined by the state board to be the equivalent of three hours of college credit.QUALIFICATIONS
High school education, or its equivalent (GED), required, and achieve a passing score on the WV State Competency Test for teacher aides. Aptitude for working with students and teachers required. Must have physical ability and stamina to perform all essential functions outlined. Prior experience working with children preferred. This job is classified as medium to heavy work capacity.Reports to:
Principal, teacher or supervisor. Essential functions of the job are: To aide in lunchroom monitoring and sometimes clean-up as required To assist students in their movement about the building and on and off the school bus To assist students with bathroom facilities and any other necessary requirement in this area. To obtain knowledge of operation of any equipment required by the student. To supervise and help serve in the lunchroom (where required). A Food Handler's Card is required. To supervise on the playground. To supervise indoor activities in lieu of playground on days of inclement weather. To supervise the loading and unloading of buses (where required). Prepare classroom activities such as set up audio visual equipment, overhead projectors, tape recorders, computers, etc. Required to ride and supervise on the school bus as needed. May assist handicapped students in the classroom, restroom, playground and moving in and out of the building. Other responsibilities include diaper changing, feeding, lifting and potty training. Must be trained in specialized health care procedures. General clerical work, typing skills of 40 words per minute and operate office machines for teachers. Instructional duties consisting of teacher-directed assistance. Classroom housekeeping Preparation and care of instructional materials Maintenance and care of equipment. To follow county policy and procedures. To maintain positive work habits and attitudes. To perform duties efficiently and productively. To maintain professional appearance. To promote positive public communications. To cooperate with the principal and teacher in any way necessary to enhance the overall learning situation. To perform other related tasks as assigned by the teacher, principal or supervisor.TITLE:
Autism Mentor Autism Mentor â€" means those personnel who work with autistic standards and experience to be determined by the state board. Provided, that the state board shall determine these standards and experience on or before the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred ninety-two.Qualifications:
High school education, or its equivalent (GED). Meets the qualifications of an "Aide III" as delineated in West Virginia Code 18A-4-8. Successful completion of a staff development program related to autism as determined by the State Department of Education. Physical ability and stamina necessary to complete all job tasks, including tasks related to ensuring student safety. Two years of successful experience working with autistic students. The local school district is responsible for verifying these standards. This job is classified as requiring a medium to heavy work capacity.Reports to:

The Autism mentor is under the supervision of the principal, teacher and assists with clerical tasks.Duties:

Required to have a Food Handler's Card. To supervise on the playground. To supervise indoor activities in lieu of playground on days of inclement weather. To supervise the loading and unloading of buses (where required). Prepare classroom activities as directed by the teacher. To ride and supervise on the school bus where required. May assist handicapped students in the classroom, restroom or playground and moving in and out of the building, also diaper changing, feeding, lifting and potty training. Specialized health care procedures. General office and clerical work, typing skills of 40 words per minute and operate office machines for teachers. Special Ed â€" Aquatic water program if special needs students are involved. Tracking student projects and collecting data. Required to complete CPR, First Aid & Crisis Prevention Intervention. To perform other related tasks as assigned by the teacher, principal or supervisor. Salary based on experience and education level per CBOE salary schedule plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.https:
