Job Description

Under the supervision of the instructor; division director; discipline chair; associate dean; and/or Dean, Instructional Affairs, the Substitute assists with teaching students according to established policies and procedures. The substitute will present instructor of record prepared materials, supervise organized laboratory activities, and record appropriate student information in accordance with established policies and procedures.
SALARY:
Academic substitutes in the academic fields are paid $27.04 per hour, not to exceed 19 hours per week. Career Technical substitutes in the career technical fields are paid $27.58 per hour for Master's prepared and $19.86 per hour for Certificate/Diploma, Associate Degree or Bachelor's prepared, not to exceed 19 hours per week. Compensation to substitute instructors may vary depending on the duration of the instructional assignment and the instructional division with the College. Appropriate compensation arrangements for substitute instructors will be determined by the College. Part-time positions are posted based on the possible availability of a future assignment which are sporadic and may not occur. Available positions are contingent upon enrollment and instructional needs of the College. The position will be based initially at the Wallace Campus in Dothan.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
Substitution. Presents instructor of record prepared materials, supervises organized laboratory activities, and records appropriate student information in accordance with established policies and procedures. Present instructional materials and facilitate learning at scheduled times and places in accordance with the College Catalog descriptions, course syllabi and outlines, and class schedules. Use the established syllabus and textbook for the course being taught. Maintains records of student attendance, student progress, and grade distributions. Evaluate the progress and performance of the student and assign grades. Maintains discipline and order during instructional activities. Supervises organized laboratory activities when appropriate. Communicates through appropriate channels as necessary. Comply with all policies of the State Board of Education, the Alabama Community College System, and Wallace Community College.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
Support of College Policies and Procedures. Performs other department activities to ensure efficient, high quality services are provided to WCC. Maintains confidentiality of student information. Substitutes for other instructors within field or discipline in case of an absence. Exercises stewardship of College facilities and materials. Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Reports to work on time, at appropriate workstation or department during all departmental/position scheduled work days and during all departmental/position scheduled work hours. Understands that failure to report for work and/or reporting late without prior approval are unacceptable practices and will result in disciplinary action. Performs a productive full day's work. Ensures that service to students and the general public is top priority. Demonstrates a considerate, friendly, respectful and constructive attitude toward fellow employees and students. Adheres to all College and System policies and procedures. Academic Substitute Instructor minimum qualifications Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution is required . Previous teaching experience is preferred. Career Technical Substitute Instructor minimum qualifications An associate degree from a regionally accredited institution is required . Work experience and certification/license in the related field is preferred. Coursework and/or experience in the specialty area is preferred. Previous teaching experience is preferred. Available positions are contingent upon enrollment and the instructional needs of the College. Applicants must travel at their own expense for interviews that are conducted in person.
