Summary/Objective
Provide behavioral support and academic interventions to students in an alternative learning environment.
Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:
Respond to all internal and external customers, as it relates to the position, in a prompt, efficient, friendly, and patient manner.
Perform clerical duties to assist the school office, as time permits or as assigned.
Develop, implement, and maintain opportunity room attendance and other related record-keeping procedures, logs, and files.
Monitor activities of students assigned to In-School-Suspension (ISS); ensure students are involved in learning activities while in the opportunity room, to include working on schoolwork assigned by classroom teachers; provide assistance to students in understanding and completing work/study assignments.
Communicate with teachers regarding student suspensions, behavior, attendance, and work assignments; develop and implement procedures to ensure that students assigned to the opportunity room get assignments from their teachers as well as books and supplies and that completed assignments are collected and submitted to teachers.
Communicate with parents as assigned or as necessary; answer inquiries from parents; provide appropriate information regarding students' attendance, behavior, and assignments.
Maintain the confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer employed.
Maintain knowledge of and adhere to all policies, regulations, and rules.
Perform related duties as assigned in a safe and prudent manner.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
At-Will Notice of Employment does not provide a guarantee of a particular schedule of work or a minimum number of days or hours.
This is a 9-month, 40-hour per week position. This position is eligible for medical benefits. Employee will work ten hours per day Monday through Thursday during core business hours.
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
AA degree, 60 college credits from an accredited university, or satisfactory results on an Arizona state-approved competency exam (ParaPro)

Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card with an IVP number through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
