Job Description

Position:
Summer Program Substitute Instructor / Floater Athena Coding is hiring substitute instructors and floaters for our Summer 2026 expanded learning program in Alhambra, CA. This is a temporary, as-needed position supporting elementary school students during summer enrichment programming. Substitute instructors and floaters may be asked to cover enrichment classes, assist with student supervision, support transitions, help with lunch or dismissal coverage, and fill in when regularly scheduled staff are absent or when additional coverage is needed. This is a good fit for someone who enjoys working with children, is flexible, reliable, and comfortable stepping into different classroom or activity settings as needed.
Responsibilities may include:
Supervising and engaging elementary-age students Leading or assisting with provided enrichment activities Covering staff absences or open shifts Supporting transitions, lunch, recess, and dismissal Helping maintain a safe, positive, and organized environment Following site procedures and Athena Coding expectations
Schedule:
This is an as-needed substitute/floater role. Hours are not guaranteed and may vary by week depending on program needs. Candidates with strong availability between June 1 and July 10, 2026 will be prioritized.
Requirements:
Experience working with children preferred Reliable, professional, and responsive Able to follow provided lesson plans and site instructions Must complete required onboarding, background checks/fingerprinting, and employment eligibility verification before working CPR/First Aid, Mandated Reporter Training, TB clearance, and education verification may be required before the start date
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
