Build good relationships with school staff Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma (AA or BA degrees in Early Childhood Education are preferred, but not required) A CTC Child Development Teacher level permit or higher (Site Supervisor is preferred but not required) Negative TB test administered within 60 days of hire Clearance of fingerprint background check Work at least 15 days during the first semester, or a minimum of 30 days by the end of the school year Essential Duties Substitute teachers are an essential part of our district and essential for our students' continued learning! Via our substitute scheduling system, Red Rover, substitute teachers cover teacher absences and vacancies in the classroom and are responsible for following lesson plans to maintain and further student learning. Under the direction of a site administrator, site principal or other appropriate administrator, plan, implement, monitor and assess a preschool classroom instructional program: Responsible for the full schedule of the regular teacher. This includes the classroom day, outdoor play, lunch, and nap (if provided by the school), and any special duties the absent teachers perform. Implement the lesson plans for the classroom to which they are assigned. Maintain normal classroom routines and use appropriate re-direction and positive guidance strategies to diffuse classroom behaviors that may arise. The responsible administrator should be contacted if a serious behavior problem arises. Responsible for supervision of young children as deemed by the Child Care Licensing Department Codes Create and maintain a climate of respect and fairness for all students Escalate to school administrators as appropriate when a serious discipline problem arises. Leave adequate notes regarding what was accomplished in class, a description of problems that may have occurred, and resolutions to said problems, a lesson plan for the next day if applicable, and any other information that an administrator may require. Report to school 15-30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each assignment, and remain after the assignment to tidy up the classroom and return any materials to the front office.
