MANDATORY TWO WEEKS OF SUMMER TRAINING REQUIRED AT DESIGNATED PLTW TRAINING
SITES or already possess the training requirements Establish and maintain high academic expectations for all students. Establish and maintain high standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a structured, positive learning environment in the classroom and building, implementing Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports and CHAMPS strategies for all students. Collaborate with grade level team members and support teachers in planning lessons, monitoring student progress, analyzing data, modifying, and differentiating instruction as needed. Maintain up to date progress monitoring and academic diagnostics. Assist in development of Career Institute academies Use the MTSS process to support students both academically and behaviorally. Integrate technology into lessons and have a working knowledge of Microsoft, Google Suite, Chrome books, tablets, etc.Implement effective research-based strategies:
Differentiated Instruction, Think Alouds, QAR, Explicit Instruction, etc. Communicate with parents on a consistent basis regarding student progress and encourage parental involvement. Perform supervision responsibilities with a belief that all teachers are on duty at all times everywhere in the school environment including AM/PM outside duty, hall duties, lunch/recess duty by following the building PBIS procedures and expectations. Participate in IEP's MTSS meetings, Collaborative Teacher Teams, Committees, and parent conferences. Be an active participant in building level professional development focused on MTSS, Character Strong, CHAMPS, PBIS, Collaborative Teacher Teams, effective interventions, and incorporate strategies in the classroom. Willingness to obtain training in areas that are in need of being nurtured. Implement and teach the Gateway To Technology curriculum provided by Project Lead the Way Ability to attend ongoing GTT training sessions during the school year and summers at designated PLTW training sites (beyond Year 1) Teach GTT classes during a full school day Complete mandatory end-of-year online reporting requirements forGTT/PLTW
Attend all CTE in service and district professional development sessions Attend monthly PLTW Advisory Council meetings Knowledge of Common Core standards for Math and Science Assist and support in the delivery of standards-based pre-engineering curriculum to students Successful experience in teaching with a strong emphasis on collaboration and Problem-based learning strategies Ability to facilitate multiple small cooperative learning groups in a non-traditional classroom learning environment Knowledge ofPLTW/GTT
technology, VEX kits, and software needed for the program including RobotC Participate fully as a productive team member with the otherGTT/PLTW
staff Implement district and building initiatives Demonstrate effective communication with students, parents, staff, and community members Able to implement a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learning communities Ability to establish a positive learning environment and maintain a positive rapport with students and parents Other duties as assigned by administrator Teachers are expected to commit to the program beyond a single year due to the training required for this position and the expenses of the training. They need to have advanced computer skills as well as problem-solving skills related to technological issues and be able to solve issues as they arise with software and programming when LIS is not readily available. Teachers need to have experience working collaboratively with other teachers to implement PLTW curriculum for the Gateway program and have extensive experience facilitating cooperative, small-group learning environments This position is not about who has been teaching the longest in the district, but rather who is committed to this STEM program and passionate about working with students in a non-traditional learning environment. At least three times each school year, the Gateway teachers are expected to spend several hours after-school working collaboratively to continue advancing the curriculum, program, and student learning. Good attendance & punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully. Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential. Must be willing to support and implement Davenport's multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics.Physical Requirements of Position:

Experience with Project Lead the Way (PLTW) or willingness to be trained. Successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.
