POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking Elementary Classroom Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year to serve students in grades K-5. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging learning environment; implement high-quality instruction aligned to curriculum standards; and support the academic, social, and emotional development of all students. Teachers must demonstrate a commitment to equity, student-centered learning, and ongoing professional growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver standards-based instruction in core subject areas including literacy, math, science, and social studies Create a supportive, positive, and inclusive classroom culture that promotes learning for all students Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English learners and students with IEPs/504s Utilize formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction and track student progress Establish clear routines, expectations, and procedures to maintain a safe and orderly classroom Collaborate with grade-level teams, specialists, and support staff to plan and implement effective instruction Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activities Participate in school-based teams, professional development, and data-driven planning sessions Integrate technology to enhance teaching and student learning Support the social-emotional development of students through positive behavior strategies and responsive practices Maintain accurate student records and complete required reports and documentation
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate instructional practices Ability to create and implement engaging lessons that support a range of learners Effective classroom management and organization skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge of curriculum standards and assessment strategies Experience with culturally responsive teaching and inclusive practices
QUALIFICATIONS
Connecticut State Department of Education Elementary Certification (013) Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field (Master's preferred) Experience working in a diverse, urban school setting preferred Familiarity with instructional technology and digital learning tools Bilingual or multilingual candidates encouraged to apply
SALARY:
Salary and benefits are paid in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NEA Danbury and the Danbury Board of Education , available on the district website.
