Substitute / Floater Teacher Job DescriptionPosition Title Substitute / Floater Teacher Reports To Director / Assistant Director / Lead Teacher Position Summary The Substitute/Floater Teacher provides classroom support throughout the center as needed. This position assists teachers, maintains a safe and positive learning environment, and helps ensure smooth daily operations by covering classrooms, breaks, and staff absences. Duties & Responsibilities Assist in various classrooms as assigned throughout the day Provide coverage for teacher breaks, absences, and transitions Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times Support daily classroom routines and activities Assist with meals, diapering, potty training, and nap supervision as needed Help maintain clean, organized, and sanitary classrooms Interact positively and professionally with children, families, and staff Follow directions from Lead Teachers and administration Assist with playground supervision and classroom transitions Follow all center policies, procedures, and state licensing regulations Respond appropriately to emergencies and behavioral situations Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and center information Qualifications Must pass Level 2 Background Screening CPR and First Aid Certification preferred or willing to obtain DCF 45 Hours preferred but not mandatory Skills & Abilities Flexibility and ability to adapt to different classrooms and age groups Strong teamwork and communication skills Patience, reliability, and professionalism Ability to multitask and follow instructions Ability to lift, bend, sit on the floor, and actively engage with children throughout the day Work Schedule Part-time, full-time, and as-needed positions available. Hours may vary based on center staffing needs.
