The Long-term Art Substitute is responsible for fulfilling all of their responsibilities in accordance with the mission and philosophy of the School. The Long-term Substitute Teacher is responsible for differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all students in their class. Educational Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Science & Art Education or Fine Arts in Art Education (Preferred) Georgia State Teaching Certificate/License (Preferred). Essential Duties and Responsibilities Effectively uses best practices in teaching and learning to deliver instruction Presents well-planned lessons with appropriate work within and outside of the classroom (with a focus on integration of subject areas, problem solving, and application). Has the ability to shift in the moment with child-initiated ideas Models appropriate behavior for students and can effectively engage young children in learning and practicing appropriate behavior Understands and supports developmental benchmarks of elementary-age children Develops strong student relations and nurtures the whole child by effectively communicating through active listening and appropriate responses Collaborates with colleagues in lesson planning as well as all grade-level and school-wide goals Uses technology to enhance instruction and communicate effectively Understands responsible digital citizenship Other duties as assigned Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. All Faculty/Staff Children Families of the children Board of Trustees Professional staff from other related agencies The Greater Community This is an hourly position and will report to the Human Resources Coordinator and Upper Elementary Division Head. Work Hours Generally, the Long-term Art Substitute will work Monday-Thursday from 7:40 a.m.-3:15 p.m. Faculty and Staff rotate weekly morning carpool, which starts at 7:30 AM, and afternoon carpool, which lasts a minimum of 30 minutes. This is a temporary position that will begin on or around August 27 and last approximately 90 days. When necessary, the employee must be flexible in the ability to work more than her/his regular daily or weekly schedule to complete duties and/or be available for parent conversations and consultations.
