Immediately Job Description This is for a Substitute Teaching Position with Carter County Schools for the 2026-2027 school year. You will not be guaranteed any amount of work days and will be called on an as needed basis. You must attend a substitute meeting before being added to the substitute list. The meeting has not been scheduled. An email will be sent to all applicants after the deadline with date and time. New Substitutes will do all necessary paperwork at the meeting. You are required to have a physical exam, criminal background and Central Registy check before starting to work. Information on these documents will be given at the meeting.
EDUCATIONAL PREPARATIONS
You must have Kentucky Teaching Certification or Five-Year Teaching Certificate to be Certified Substitute; OR An Official College Transcript with at least 64 college credit hours from an accredited instution. State Department of Education requires that the transcript must have no less than a 2.5 GPA to be considered an Emergency Substitute. Teacher Job Description Professional Leadership A. Will strive to build positive relationships with the school and community. B. Participates in communitee structure to develop educational strategies for the school. C. Will be punctual and regular in attendance. D. Will follow school board policy and administrative procedures. E. Will adhere to the state professional Code of Ethics. F. Will maintain confidentiality when dealing with students and records. G. Will use technology appropriately. Content Knowledge A. Responsible for content knowledge across the disciplines being taught. B. Is responsible for planning lessons and developing instructional material that reflect knowledge of current constructs and principles of the disciplines being taught. C. Will present accurate and factual information during instruction. D. Will connect content knowledge to real-world applications. Plans Instruction A. Plans instruction that develops students' abilities to use communication skills. B. Plans instruction that allows the student to apply core concepts. C. Plans instruction that enables students to become self-sufficient individuals. D. Plans instruction that enables students to become responsible team members. E. Plans instruction that enables students to think and solve problems. F. Follows the guidelines of the school for lesson plan format. Maintains Learning Climate A. Supports students with constructive feedback. B. Maintains positive classroom interaction. C. Maintains a classroom which supports student achievement D. Is consistent in dealing with students E. Follows the school discipline policy Assessment A. Is responsible for developing appropriate assessment strategies. B. Maintains up-to-date records of student progress. C. Communicates student assessment to students and parents. Professional Development A. Is expected to attend the required Professional Development sessions. B. Will maintain a Professional Growth Plan. C. Will attend all teachers meeting as directed by the principal. Other A. Will be responsible for the supervision of students at all times. B. Will be responsible for maintaining all appropriate student records. C. Will serve as a representative on assigned Site Base committees. D. Will perform other duties assigned by the principal consistent with responsibilities becoming a teacher.
