An understanding of, and experience in, teaching in an inquiry and play-based school is highly desired, as is an awareness of differentiated instruction. Sacred Heart Preschool is a Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool, and the only International Baccalaureate (IB) preschool in the state of Kentucky. Candidates with strengths in teaching with a Reggio-Emilia influence, Positive Guidance, inquiry teaching, and play-based philosophy are highly encouraged to apply. Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, ability, and desire to work collaboratively, and dedication to continuously developing and practicing cultural competence in one's teaching are also essential. Sacred Heart Preschool emphasizes social-emotional development and approaches to learning that focus on thinking, research, communication, and risk-assessment skills.
