Job Description
The role of the substitute is to, on typically short notice, step into the role of assistant teacher in a Montessori classroom. The assistant in an environment such as this is responsible for preparation of materials, assisting the children in caring for the environment when necessary, and assisting the lead so that they are able to perform their duties without interruption. Beyond these duties, the primary concern of the substitute is the well-being of the children in their care.
