Our Middle School fosters a dynamic and engaging learning environment where students are encouraged to think critically, collaborate meaningfully, and grow academically and socially. Substitute Teachers play an essential role in maintaining continuity of instruction and classroom stability. They are expected to follow teacher-prepared lesson plans, manage classrooms effectively, and support students in a structured and respectful environment. Responsibilities Support and model the mission, values, and community standards of Montclair Kimberley Academy Provide instructional coverage by following lesson plans prepared by teachers Maintain a structured, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment for students in Grades 4-8 Take accurate attendance for each class and communicate it to the Middle School Academic Office Manage classroom behavior in alignment with Middle School expectations and routines Facilitate smooth transitions between classes; note that there are no bells, so time management is essential Supervise assigned duties, including recess, lunch, or coverage as needed Communicate clearly with faculty, staff, and administrators to ensure continuity throughout the day

Experience:

Experience working with students for at least 2 years in Grades 4-8 in a school setting preferred Ability to manage a classroom independently with confidence, structure, and flexibility Strong communication and organizational skills Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment Work Schedule Must be available 2-3 times a week and for emergency on-calls

Schedule:

7:30 am - 2:50 pm

Compensation Daily Rate:
